My STORY
Born in Egypt, I have lived across continents—from Austin, Texas to Zimbabwe—experiences that have shaped my worldview and artistic voice. New York City has been my home for over three decades. My creative path began in Berlin, where I first explored drawing and painting as a teenager. I later studied fashion design and draping at ESMOD, and upon arriving in New York, I worked in the fashion industry before transitioning into interior architecture and design.
Throughout every phase of my career, one constant has remained: a deep engagement with form and space. My work has always been rooted in the three-dimensional. It was through sculpture, however, that I discovered my truest medium—a practice that brings together my background in design with a more visceral, personal mode of expression.
I work in clay and wax, and carve in wood and stone, bringing form to ideas through the textures of natural materials.
My finished pieces take shape in clay, bronze, pewter and alabaster.
At the heart of my practice is the female body, not just as a form but as a vessel of layered meaning: strength and fragility, resilience and grace. Through my work, I aim to invite viewers beyond the surface, encouraging them to sense the strength, vulnerability, and enduring spirit that women carry.My newest series, in progress, is centered on physical and emotional trauma.
Becoming a mother to three daughters—now strong, thoughtful young women—has profoundly shaped the way I see the world and the role of women within it. Their journeys, and my own, continue to fuel my exploration of the female experience—its challenges, its resilience, and its quiet power.
